Feature: Yellow & Grey Wedding

Chelsea and Meghan of Orchestrated Stylized Shoots shared some fabulous wedding shoot photos with us this week.

Not only do I admire them because they’re a creativity-craving duo (sound familiar? hehe), but I love the fact that a wedding planner (Meghan) and a photographer (Chelsea) teamed up to start this awesome production of staging events.  Read more about them and their styled events here, and check out Chelsea’s company, Bit of Ivory Photography, too.

I first saw this event on Meghan’s blog, and I knew we had to share it.  First of all, Karis’ favorite color combo of all time is grey & yellow (someone, please hire us to style that color scheme)!  Second of all, this decor was totally budget savvy.  Meghan and Chelsea used whatever free available resources they could, and spent about $100 on the rest.  Hear that, budget brides??  I love proving that you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to have a beautiful occasion.

The stationary is all from The Girl Tyler.

Love the details!  Simple & elegant.

The beautiful cake is from Bella Cakes.  I simply adore the spherical flowers on top; a little modern flair.  Floral arrangements were provided by Leslie Hartig Floral Design.

Speaking of flowers, a gorgeous & unique bridal bouquet…

Who says guys can’t pull off polka dots?!  I love that patterned touch.

The ties in this shoot were all by Me and Matilda.

Using a lemon instead of the typical ring bearer pillow is such a unique way to incorporate yellow!

I’ve saved my favorite detail for the end… BOW TIES!  I am obsessed with bow ties on little ones.  There’s something about the play on “manliness” that I just think is so adorable on a young boy!

And yes, they’re polka-dotted too.

Thanks again to Orchestrated Stylized Shoots for sharing this inspiration with us!

DIY: Cinco de Mayo Label Holder

Karis created some labels for a small pre-Cinco de Mayo event, and we displayed them using coffee stirrers (huh?) and limes.

Just stick a stirrer in the lime, snip the top of the stirrer to create a slit, and slide in the label! You might need to slice off the bottom of the lime to ensure stability.

Ole’!

A Spring Af{fair}

We wanted to share some details from our recent staged party display with you!

You’ll be seeing multiple shots from this photoshoot used throughout our site soon.  A little blog makeover, if you will.

We are MAJORLY crushing on teal, mint & coral this spring when it comes to styling events.  Those bright colors subtly integrated with femininity and a little fair “fare” (kettle corn, circus peanuts, cotton candy, lemonade, etc.) set the tone for this fun shoot captured by Carrie Walker of Beautiful One Photography. Thanks again, Carrie!

We painted a couple of wood spindles & disks our favorite shade of teal and attached them, making great little stands for the cakepops.  A vintage style jar was used to hold more, bouquet style.  Jessica Dionne of Sugar and Spiked made our cakepops, as always!

We also painted picture frames on which we set out bottles of lemonade and little bags of kettle corn.

Our beautiful custom cake was courtesy of Johnson’s Custom Cakes and More.  Not only did it look amazing, it tasted just as good.

We added a couple of ribbon details to the cake.

The candy jar and cakestand risers were simply wood boxes painted a fresh light shade of mint.  We also painted a tiered tray to match, and used it to display some puffs of cotton candy in dainty cups.

Details, details, details!

The accordian blooms on the backdrop were made out of scrapbook paper and paper bags; they’re such a cute and easy DIY addition to any party.

Stay tuned!

Milk & Cookies Birthday Party

Get ready for an ADORABLE party perfect for boys and girls of all ages!

This Milk & Cookies themed birthday party was styled for some very special siblings.  A collaborative coed birthday party?  GENIUS.

Camden, Adalyn and Lily were the guests of honor… with Camden & Adalyn celebrating their 3rd birthdays (twins!) and little Lily celebrating her 1st.

This party, comprised mainly of one display table, featured a color scheme of chocolate chip cookie browns (naturally), pink, blue, green & purple.  Karis created all of the labels to reflect the fun-loving theme, and patterns of polka dots and stripes were used throughout.

The assortment of desserts were made by some very talented bakers.  Special thanks to Molly Copeland, Jen Fleming, Linda Gwinn and Carrie Walker (momma of the birthday kiddos) for your contributions!

To keep the sweet tooth satisfied, some wrapped candy straws served as favors to go home with the little guests.

I think it’s safe to say the kids enjoyed their party!

What a fun party!  Milk & cookies, anyone…?

Camping Cowgirl Birthday Party

Remember Ella’s 2nd birthday party from last year?  Well, she is 3 now!  How time flies.

Karis decided to throw a frilly Camping Cowgirl themed party for her this year. A little bit shabby chic, a little bit rustic, a little bit country… a LOTTA bit cute!

Speaking of cute…

The birthday girl’s charming cowgirl outfit was purchased from Etsy seller Lateeda Kids.

Ella’s gorgeous hair accessories were courtesy of Nicole at Jubilee Boutique. You should really check out her stuff. Half (ok, more than half) of my hair accessory supply involves her craft-tasticness, and Karis and I frequently sport her pieces.

An equestrian field complete with a riding trail was the perfect setting for this event. It was a perfect South Florida day, full of breeze and sunshine! Details such as twine, burlap, field flowers, gingham & assorted vintage floral patterns set the tone.

The menu, based on theme (naturally), boasted delicious BBQ. Made by Ella’s Daddy himself! The food on the table was served informally and family style, on some risers wrapped in burlap & a pink gingham table cloth with lace skirt.

Behind it was my personal favorite detail of the party: a window-like backdrop framed with lace curtains.

The banner was made with strips of fabric, painted horseshoes & tied up with twine.

The food labels are from FairestLJ on Etsy. They have REALLY cute paper goods.

YUM…!

A display presenting drinks and desserts was complete with an endearing bunting banner purchased from Beautiful Thinking UK on Etsy. And what kind of cowgirl party would it be without some hay?

Pictures of Ella, wild west style, were displayed throughout the party decor.

A vintage umbrella stand held cups with striped straws, and some cupcakes were displayed on top of a vintage dresser.

The s’more cupcakes were an absolute treat; recipe courtesy of the lovely and talented Martha Stewart. The flag cupcake toppers which matched the triangle banner are also from Beautiful Thinking UK.

The kids stayed entertained by using “bug catching nets” to scoop up candy “bugs” hidden throughout the lawn, and were sent home with goody bags.

We borrowed this country-style iron carriage from a friend, and it served us well.

Karis created a “s’mores bar” for the adults to enjoy, and the perfect time came when the sun began to go down and it was time to retreat to the lit tent.

We dressed up a tent with complete with burlap curtains and custom cushions made to match the fabric used throughout the party.

The day ended like any Camping Cowgirl party should… with everyone around the campfire :)

DIY: Label Tips for a Rustic Theme

Stamps and fire and twine, oh my!

While styling our recent Rustic Modern Wine display, as simple as it was, we rediscovered a technique revolutionary to us computer-printing slaves. STAMPS!

And not just for the label outlines (as shown in the photo above), but for the whole stinkin’ alphabet. Stamping with separate letters creates a very scattered and eclectic look, one that is perfect for rustic themes.

How to make the labels look even more rustic? Burn them!

No, really. Burn them.

Burning the edges of the cardstock instantly changes brings the look to another level. We even rubbed a little bronze colored ink to the burnt edges too.

Add a little twine, and you’ve got yourself a bonafide rustic label.

Try it for yourself at your next party, cowgirl :)

Rustic Modern Wine Display

We figured we’d share this simple wine themed display that we whipped up for a girls gathering.

Wood, crates and natural elements added a rustic feel and neutral background for the modern grape colored polka dotted fabric.

A fabric banner was created and finished with twine, and a wood letter (‘w’ for wine, of course!) was wrapped with the coordinating fabric as an added touch. Burlap served as the table cloth & base for the stacked crates and wine corks were strewn throughout. Crackers were served in a wicker basket.

Want some cheese with that wine??

The label collected was NOT printed, we discovered a new love for stamps and their eclectic style… super useful for rustic themes along with burning the edges of the label (DIY post to come!).

Here’s to good wine, good friends & an excuse to create something special. Cheers!
